Ralph J. Seward Sr.

Ralph J. Seward Sr.

Ralph J. Seward Sr. was born March 2, 1930, in Maramec, Okla., to Charley Anderson and Pearl Lena Cagle Seward. He passed away peacefully on Thursday, March 15, 2018, while in the Veteran’s Hospital in Oklahoma City. Ralph lived a joyous 88 years.

He received his GED and attended college in Okmulgee for two years. He proudly served our country in the United States Air force and received an honorable discharge on July 11, 1955. He lived in Colorado for awhile and managed a trailer park in Loveland. He also worked for Douglas & Jarden underground cable company. He then started his career in the oilfield industry. He started out a floor hand and worked his way up to a tool pusher.

Ralph was a family man and loved his family very much. When the grandchildren started arriving, that love just grew deeper. He enjoyed hunting and fishing, spending time with his family and friends and participating in rodeos. He was a member of the American Legion #0156 in Carnegie. Ralph has left a legacy for us and will be greatly missed.

Left to cherish his memory are his daughters, Lyla Alley and husband Roy of Carnegie, Gaila Cole of Fort Cobb, Billie Vinson and husband Randy of Eureka, Kan., Marilyan Vaden of Ponca City, Delorise Yost of Ponca City, Norma Dady of Ponca City and Leota Leonard and husband William of Ponca City; brother, Chuck Seward and wife Katie of Verden; sisters, Jennie Harris of Colorado Springs, Colo., and Maxine Robertson and husband Ronnie of Chickasha; several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, other relatives and friends.

Ralph is preceded in death by his parents; son, Ralph John Seward Jr; brothers, Alfred and Jack Seward; sisters, Alice Cox, Leota Fleharty and Margie Radford

Funeral services will be Thursday, March 22, at 2 p.m. at the Oak Grove Baptist Church in Kaw City. Gary Wilburn will officiate. Burial will follow in the Grandview Cemetery in Kaw City. Funeral services are under the direction of Smith Funeral Home, Anadarko.
