
Jean R. Dollarhide
Jean R. Dollarhide, of Ponca City, passed away Friday afternoon May 18, 2018, at her home with her family by her side. She was 92. Jean was born May 4, 1926, in Leominster, Mass. the daughter of Buster and Lena McAlaney Matthews.
A graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, May 23, at Grandview Cemetery in Kaw City, with Tom Howard, chaplain of Hospice of North Central Oklahoma. Arrangements are in care of Grace Memorial Chapel. The family has requested memorial contributions be made to Hospice of North Central Oklahoma, 442 Fairview Ponca City, OK 74601
Jean graduated from high school and she met the love of her life not long after and they married on May 3, 1945, in Alabama. They then came to the Ponca City area in 1945. During her early years, Jean enjoyed fishing and camping. She was also a devoted housewife, cooking and caring for her family. She also enjoyed bird watching and looking at flower gardens.
Survivors include one son, Marshall Dollarhide and wife Sharon, of Guthrie; three daughters, Connie Steen and husband Tom, of De Soto, Kan., Vivian Box and husband Mike, Gayle Gay and Gary Engmire, all of Ponca City. She is also survived by numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren and nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; one daughter, Linda McPeak; one grandson, David Box; three brothers and two sisters.
