Pamela Jewell Grass

Pamela Jewell Grass joined her heavenly Father on Saturday morning, July 7, 2018, while at her home in rural Shidler. She was 66.

Visitation will be held at the Hunsaker-Wooten Chapel of Fairfax from 8 a.m. – 8 p.m. on Wednesday, July 11. A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. on Thursday, July 12, at the Full Gospel Assembly in Fairfax with Lewis Bernard officiating. Immediately following, she will be laid to rest in Burbank Cemetery near Burbank.

She was born on Sunday, May 11, 1952, Pamela Jewell Parker, the daughter of Calvin Gene and Mary Ellen Parks Parker in Hays, Kan. Shortly afterwards, the family moved to Guymon where she attended school, graduating high school in 1970. Following graduation, she attended Southwestern Bible College in Oklahoma City before marrying Ken Ferguson in 1971.

After moving to the Ponca City area in 1972 she was hired as a pipefitter for ConocoPhillips. She spent 39 years working there before retiring in 2011. It was during this time she met the love of her life, Wayne Grass and they were married on Sept. 21, 1980. The couple made their home in the Ponca City area with their five children. Upon retirement, they moved to Shidler.

In her spare time, she was an artist, quilter and musician. She was a member of the Full Gospel Assembly Church in Fairfax. Often times she would play her trumpet during church worship services. She loved spending time with family and especially enjoyed her grandkids and great-grandkids.

Pam will be forever remembered by her beloved daughters, Kristy Cornish and husband Chris, of Wichita, Kan., Josie Hamlett, of Shidler, Okla.; dear stepson, Richmond Grass and wife Kacie, of Ponca City; cherished mother, Mary E. Parker, of Shidler; four siblings, Edwin Parker, of Shidler, Ron Parker, of Apperson, Gay Swenson, of Shidler and Mira Jones and husband Denny, of Cincinnati, Ohio; treasured grandchildren, Trent Shoptese and wife Tiffany, Mollie Shoptese, Alicia Brown and husband Odie, Silas Grass, Sydney Grass, Sterling Grass, Kalyn Hamlett, Raven Hamlett, Autumn Hamlett and Sadie Cornish; 11 great-grandchildren as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins and life-long friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Wayne T. Grass; sister, Debra Blackwell; father, Calvin Parker; sister-in-law, Shawna Parker; step-daughters, Kelly Shoptese and Terri Grass and nieces, Paula and Gayla Blackwell.

Honorary casket bearers will be Pam’s brothers, Ed Parker and Ron Parker.
