Retired Educators To Meet

The Kay County Retired Educators’ Association will be meeting on Monday, Sept. 10, 2018, at 11:30 a.m. The meeting will be held at the NOC cafeteria in Tonkawa. Lunch will be available for $10.
The program will be presented by Jon Cunningham, area director for the Ponca City Big Brothers Big Sisters program.
Big Brothers Big Sisters is a community based mentoring program that pairs children, ages 6 to 18, with role models in one-to-one relationships.
The business meeting will address the future of KCREA which could include electing a new president, dissolving the organization or restructuring it.
KCREA is open to all educators, both professional and support, who live in or have worked in the Kay County area.
Please plan to attend to help make decisions about the future of the organization.
The KCREA is the local affiliate of the Oklahoma Retired Educators’ Association.
The OREA and KCREA advocate for retirees at the State Capitol and work to protect teacher retirement and provide oversight on several state boards that govern retirement issues.

Bee Association Sets Meeting

The September meeting of North Central Oklahoma Beekeepers Association will be held Tuesday, Sept. 11 at 6:15 at the Pioneer Tech Center. As always, the public is welcome.
Topics will include getting your bees ready for winter as well as discussions based on questions from members. Harvesting honey is a current issue most beekeepers are questioning now. When and how and how much are the main questions.
NCOBA meetings are held the 2nd Tuesday of the month beginning at 6:15pm at the Pioneer Tech Center. The public is always welcome at all meetings.
