COWLEY COUNTY — The annual South Central Kansas Medical Center Auxiliary Christmas luncheon was held on Tuesday, Dec. 12th. The special event is a time to thank the volunteers for their efforts and gifts to the hospital. Every other year the celebration includes a special ceremony to officially install the upcoming Auxiliary Board members.

The following volunteers will hold office for the 2018/2019 term: Jo Ann Baker, President; Rose Anstine, Past President; Judy Day-Trenary, Recording Secretary; Rose Anstine, General Treasurer; Jan Bartel, Gift Shop Treasurer; Dee Dee Moore, In-Hospital Services/Membership.

Following the installation ceremony, incoming President Jo Ann Baker addressed the general membership.

“I appreciate all of you that have worked and continue to work. We have a lot more work ahead of us. We have to all work together. (The hospital) needs our help, and we need to be here to help them,” Baker said.

The luncheon concluded with a donation from the Auxiliary to the hospital for the purchase of specific equipment items.

“Recently we were given a wish list from the hospital and the Auxiliary has voted to donate these items: a carpet shampooer for the housekeeping department, a wheelchair for ER, a centrifuge for the lab, and a kangaroo pump for Med/Surg,” said Rose Anstine, out-going Auxiliary President.

A check for $3,792.00 was presented to hospital Chief Financial Officer, Holly Harper, for the equipment purchases.

“On behalf of the hospital I want to say thank you. The departments were elated, it means a lot to all of us. The efforts that you all put in, what you do for our patients on a daily basis, the smiles when you walk in the door, I’m grateful for you all. I really appreciate you, and am so grateful for everything you have done for us,” Harper said.
