Lady Cats’ Defense Stifling; Boys Lose

MIDWEST CITY — A solid defensive effort, especially in the second half, was an important factor in the Ponca City Lady Cats’ 55-27 victory over Carl Albert Thursday night.
The Lady Cats held the home team to seven points in the second half as they coasted to a dominant victory.
Meanwhile, Carl Albert, Class 5A’s No. 2 team, put up solid numbers in posting an 84-39 win over the Ponca City boys team.

Tonkawa, Enid NOCs Split Twinbill

TONKAWA — In the battle for bragging rights between schools with the NOC brand, NOC-Tonkawa and NOC-Enid each came away with victories Thursday night.
In a doubleheader played in Foster-Piper Fieldhouse on the Tonkawa campus, NOC-Enid thumped the NOC-Tonkawa Lady Mavs 88-59.

Softball Team Splits Thursday at NOC

TONKAWA — The Northern Oklahoma College Mavericks softball team split a doubleheader with Indian Hills Thursday afternoon winning the nightcap 8-7 after losing the opener 11-0.
The Mavs are now 3-1 on the year.

Bowling Tourney Underway

The 78th Annual Ponca City Annual Bowling Association Tournament sanctioned by the United State Bowling Congress kicked off at Ponca Bowl this past weekend and will conclude this weekend.
Currently Sharon Anderson and Saundra Kirk lead the women in Doubles Handicapped Compeition with a score of 1,418.
Judy Graves leads the women in Singles Handicapped Compeition with a score of 724.
Joy Sanders leads the women in All Events Scratch Competition with a score of 1,549.
Sanders also leads the All-Events Handicapped with a score of 2,089.
In mixed compeition Tammy Pace and Scott Riddle lead in Doubles Handicapped Competition with a score of 1,372.
In second place is James Schones and Barry Ungles with a score of 1,364. Sharon Rowen and Cheryl Hill are in third place with a score of 1,291 and Richard Brown and Kathy Walker are in fourth place with a score of 1,208.
Schones leads the group in Singles Handicapped Competition with a score of 752 followed by Pace with a score of 691 and Walker with a score of 679.
Ungles leads the pack in All-Events Hanicapped Compeition with a score of 2,085 followed by Riddle with a score of 2,084 and Schones with a score of 2,001.
Competition continues this weekend.
Ponca’s local bowling talent including 2015 United States Bowling Congress Women’s Division Sapphire Doubles National Champions Terri Terry and Robin Cnossen will be competing.

Wildcats Dominate Edmond Santa Fe

The Ponca City Wildcat wrestlers won their last regularly scheduled dual of the season Tuesday in dominating fashion.
When the final tally was complete, the Wildcats had posted a 69-9 triumph over Edmond Santa Fe in a dual in Robson Field House.
Shayden Trant set the tone that would continue throughout the dual by winning the 106-pound division with a fall over Santa Fe’s Sutton Little.
When it was all over the Wildcats had picked up five wins by fall, one technical fall and one major decision. Edmond Santa Fe forfeited matches in five weight classes.
